Polymer Gel Dosimeters in Radiotherapy: Advancements, Challenges, and Future Prospects; A Comprehensive Review
Abstract
Polymer gel dosimeters (PGDs) are advanced tools for three-dimensional (3D) measurement of absorbed radiation dose. It offers high spatial resolution, accuracy, and precision in radiotherapy dose verification. This review article explores the development, current applications, and emerging trends in PGD technology. The role of PGDs in improving radiotherapy planning, quality assurance, and patient safety are discussed. The key achievements, past and present challenges, and future directions of PGDs are critically discussed. This review guides both researchers and clinical practitioners in the design and implementation of more effective PGDs for enhanced accuracy in radiation dosimetry for effective cancer treatment.
