Abstract

Drying up of oil wells in Nigeria is one of the major problems that can affect the economy. The research is aimed to determine the basement depth of some magnetic sources in Bajoga, Gulani, Gombe and Wuyo. The study area covers an area of 12,100 Km2 between latitude 900N-110N and longitude 110E-130E. The magnetic field of the study area has been evaluated. Spectral analysis techniques were employed in the analysis. Qualitative and quantitative interpretation were also performed. The residual field of the study area composed of low magnetic reaching a minimum value of -158.6 nT and maximum value of 178.1 nT. The result show that the depth values of 5.20 Km, 5.74Km, 7.51 Km and 3.56 Km. The average depth in the study area was found to be5.52 Km. Base on the average value, there is possibility of mineralization in the area.

Key words. Basement, Depth, Aeromagnetic data
