The effect of moisture content that triggers micro-organism actions on the efficacy of paracetamol under storage for sales

Abstract

The efficacy of most drugs depends on the storage conditions of such drugs. After production, drugs are sold out to vendors for on sell to consumers. They have to store these drugs for while and sell to patients until  they exhaust their stock. The conditions of storage while selling is critical to keep the efficacy of the drug intact.

In this study some brands of paracetamol was purchased from Lagos market and stored under different temperature at different duration .the assay were carried out at intervals .the result  of this research work shows that drugs under storage are pharmacologically stable between the temperature of 15-30oC.within this temperature the moisture absorb or caused by microorganisms sometimes due to enzymatic  action are within  British pharmacopeia specification for paracetmol. Hence it is not enough to alter the pharmacological effect of the drug under storage.
